Our planned itinerary

Obviously this is all subject to change, and has already been changed innumerable times since we started the planning process, but this is the current state of our planned itinerary for our world tour

  • 01-Feb From London

  • 02-Feb Snowboarding North America (Powder Mountain - Ogden, Utah)

  • 01-Mar Road trip USA (Hire car: driving down south through the coast of California, east through the southern states and ending up in Florida)

  • 30-Mar Guatemala (3wks Spanish school in Antigua (including over Easter) then to Tikal)

  • 19-Apr Belize (diving at Caye Caulker and Glover's Reef then Jaguar reserve at Cockscomb Basin, plus some Maya stuff)

  • 05-May Mexico (diving at Cozumel and in cenotes plus some more Maya ruins)

  • 20-May Ecuador (Quito, volcanoes)

  • 21-May Galapagos (dive tour 8 days plus land tour 5 days)

  • 05-Jun Peru (Pisco for the sours, Ica/Huacachina sandboarding, Nazca for the lines, Cuzco, Inca Trail, Macchu Picchu)

  • 29-Jun Bolivia (salt flats, Lake Titicaca, river cruise for the pink river dolphins)

  • 20-Jul Argentina (Iguazu falls??, snowboarding, steaks and making like a cowboy)

  • 12-Aug Chile (snowboarding, Atacama stargazing, vineyards guzzling)

  • 02-Sep Easter Island - statues and gin-clear waters for diving

  • 06-Sep Tahiti / French Polynesian islands - more diving! Poss around Fakarava/Moorea

  • 13-Sep Australia: Into Sydney, drive south to Melbourne. Flight up to Brisbane, visit Fraser Island, bus north to Cairns for barrier reef, diving on a liveaboard for 1 week (poss around Mission Beach).

  • 14-Oct China. Entry into Beijing. We will probably self-tour Beijing to Xian to Chengdu, volunteer in Bifenxia Panda sanctuary for up to a week, then will find a tour to take us from Chengdu through Tibet (on the train) onto Nepal.

  • 11-Nov Nepal (transit)

  • 12-Nov India. Areas that we want to visit are Delhi/Agra/Jaipur golden triangle, Rajasthan for lake palace, Bombay, Pune, Goa, Hyderabad. End in Chennai.

  • 10-Dec Thailand (Northern route)

  • 20-Dec Laos (Vientiane, Luang Prabang)

  • 30-Dec Vietnam (Ha Long Bay, Hanoi, Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City)

  • 20-Jan Cambodia (Angkor Wat, Phnom Penh)

  • 30-Jan Thailand (Southern route) - islands

  • 13-Feb Malaysia (Orang utans)

  • 20-Feb Indonesia (Bali, Komodo)

  • 13-Mar Hong Kong & Taiwan

  • 23-Mar Japan: major cities, cherry blossom, sumo and snowboarding. We plan to take the train, have a cup of tea and a bath, go to the toilet and buy something from a vending machine - activities which are excitingly unfamiliar in Japan. All to prepare us for the inevitable...

  • 13-Apr Return home :(

If you are in any of the above areas during the times that we are there, then we'd (probably) love to meet up!

Our flights are booked!

The tickets have been purchased! It's really happening!!!!

Our poor travel agent must have been at the end of her tether after at least 20 changes to our itinerary, including a rather large change which meant that we pushed back our trip by 5 months and decided that we'd travel completely the opposite way around the world!

But it's all booked, and now we're at the stage where we're starting to book our first tours and accommodation at strategic points (e.g. the Inca Trail, the Galapagos cruise).

We also need to start looking at our travel admin (incuding this site), getting health insurance and up-to-date jabs, and sorting out our flat rental and travel finances.

Not much to do then...!
