Round the World

We have sorted out our plans for the next 4 months...up til the new year. Inevitably, these don't look anything like the plans we had when we left. In case you're interested, here is the scoop.

On 12th August we will be heading to Bali for divemaster internship training. This will qualify us to take out a group of people for a guided dive. A very scary thought, mostly for the poor sods we'll be leading. We'll be staying in digs provided by the dive shop and so will have a base for 8 weeks or so. A nice change.

From there we'll be travelling to Jakarta through Java and Sumatra in order to catch our flight to Hong Kong on 11th October. After 5 days there we'll head to Beijing where we'll begin our travels through China. (And hopefully Tibet).

Then it's onto India for 5 weeks or so of visiting the rellies and eating as much curry as we can. We may decide to stay in Kerala for Xmas and New Year too.

Beyond that, the plan is to get a flight to Bangkok at some point to start the SE Asia leg of the journey.

• 29-Jun Bolivia (salt flats, Lake Titicaca, river cruise for the pink river dolphins)
  
  
• 20-Jul Argentina (Iguazu falls??, snowboarding, steaks and making like a cowboy)
  
  
• 12-Aug Chile (snowboarding, Atacama stargazing, vineyards guzzling)
  
  
• 02-Sep Easter Island - statues and gin-clear waters for diving
  
  
• 06-Sep Tahiti / French Polynesian islands - more diving! Poss around Fakarava/Moorea
  
  
• 13-Sep Australia: Into Sydney, drive south to Melbourne. Flight up to Brisbane, visit Fraser Island, bus north to Cairns for barrier reef, diving on a liveaboard for 1 week (poss around Mission Beach).
  
  
• 14-Oct China. Entry into Beijing. We will probably self-tour Beijing to Xian to Chengdu, volunteer in Bifenxia Panda sanctuary for up to a week, then will find a tour to take us from Chengdu through Tibet (on the train) onto Nepal.

• 12-Nov India. Areas that we want to visit are Delhi/Agra/Jaipur golden triangle, Rajasthan for lake palace, Bombay, Pune, Goa, Hyderabad. End in Chennai.

• 20-Dec Laos (Vientiane, Luang Prabang)
  
  
• 30-Dec Vietnam (Ha Long Bay, Hanoi, Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City)

• 30-Jan Thailand (Southern route) - islands
  
  
• 13-Feb Malaysia (Orang utans)
  
  
• 20-Feb Indonesia (Bali, Komodo)

• 23-Mar Japan: major cities, cherry blossom, sumo and snowboarding. We plan to take the train, have a cup of tea and a bath. Go to the toilet and buy something from a vending machine. All to prepare us for the inevitable...
