Caught by the Fuzz!

Uh oh, we're in trouble...

sunny 1 °C

We took a day off today as we've been riding pretty hard for the past week and needed a break (or we might have broken something). I have really sore knees and ankles after riding a board that's a bit too big for me and having my bindings angled wrongly. Jon tried a box rail and promptly fell off it onto his shoulder so we've been nursing that.

So, we had a lazy morning then went into Ogden to return the Nidecker boards and try to demo new ones. We got to the Nidecker store too early for it opening (not like us at all!) so went to have lunch in 'the Historic 25th Street District' of Ogden, which is basically a bunch of galleries, bars and hair salons situated in 1930s buildings. Historic! Bless.

We ended up not getting more boards from Nidecker and so went on a search for more boards to demo, passing a shop called 'RC Willey' on the way, which made us snigger. And that is when we got collared. I will let Jon tell the rest of the story from here.....

So we got pulled over twice today. The first one told me off for turning right FROM a lane which I should not have turned from. The second one told me off for turning right INTO a lane which I should not have turned into. Both in the middle of 2-3 lane roads in downtown Ogden. They were both very polite when I turned on the English accent, the first guy explicitly saying that he wouldn't give me a citation 'cause I wasn't from round here. I thought you just got citations for bravery?

Hence, things I have learned today:

i) When they follow you with their lights on, it means they want you to pull over
ii) Respect the laning
iii) Really, are there not bigger problems in the world?

Anyway, they were both very nice and nobody got shot, which is the main thing.

Early night now as we are heading over to Solitude resort tomorrow & Snowbird on Saturday as guests of our new buddies Carey & Dan who have kindly offered us a place to stay around the Cottonwoods resorts. Thanks guys! Will report back on the differences between Pow Mow and the more well-known resorts anon, as well as on the new boards - Rossignol, for those that care.

Good night

A & J x
